ETL certification
ETL
is the most dynamic safety certification mark in North America. It
dates back to the electrical test laboratory created by Thomas Edison in
1896 and has a wide range of recognition and recognition in North
America. The
ETL logo is the exclusive mark of Intertek, the world's leading quality
and safety organization. The products represented by the ETL logo meet
the mandatory standards of North America and can be successfully sold in
the North American market.
Introduction
[ETL
SEMKO is part of Intertek Testing Services Ltd., the world's largest
product and commodity inspection organization with 240 laboratories and
469 offices in 93 countries in North America, Europe and Asia. ETL
SEMKO provides product safety testing and certification, EMC testing,
product performance testing, and quality management for a variety of
industries such as pharmaceuticals, HVAC, appliances,
telecommunications, aerospace, automation, semiconductors, building
materials, energy generation systems, and more. System registration.
Any
electrical, mechanical or electromechanical product with an ETL
inspection mark indicates that it has been tested to comply with
relevant industry standards. Each industry has different test standards, so be sure to consult a professional for specific product requirements. The ETL inspection mark is widely used in cable products, indicating that the relevant tests have been passed.
In most parts of the United States, the approval of electrical products is mandatory. ETL refers to ETL Testing Laboratories Inc. ETL's listed products are recognized by the “Authorities Having Jurisdiction” and can be considered “approved”.
Factory inspection
ETL
needs to carry out factory inspection before issuing the certificate.
After that, it will carry out the factory inspection from time to time.
The fee will be paid quarterly in addition to the factory inspection
fee.
If necessary, the inspector can witness the retesting of the product or sample it and test it in the laboratory. The
licensee must sign a statutory contract (service agreement) with the
ETL, which clearly defines the manufacturer's responsibility and the
conditions for the use of the continuous ETL listing and the ETL mark.
Application document
There
are two ways to obtain an ETL certificate in 2013. One is to transfer
through the CB test report, or you can apply directly. The required
documents are as follows:
1. Application form
2. Copy of CB test certificate (not required for direct application)
3. Copy of CB test report (not required for direct application)
4. Sample
5. Other relevant test results and product data, such as: product manuals, photos, component lists, etc.
(If you pass the CB report, you need to test the difference)
US certification
ETL is the abbreviation of Electrical Testing Laboratories. The
ETL laboratory was founded in 1896 by the American inventor Edison and
enjoys a high reputation in the United States and around the world. Like
UL and CSA, ETL can test and issue ETL certification marks according to
UL standards or US national standards. It can also test and issue
composite certification marks according to UL standards or US national
standards and CSA standards or Canadian standards. The
"us" in the lower right means that it applies to the United States, the
"c" in the lower left means that it applies to Canada, and the "us" and
"c" in both countries.
Application standard
Any
electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical product with an ETL mark
indicates that the product has met the minimum requirements for
generally recognized US and Canadian product safety standards, and it
has been tested to comply with relevant product safety standards.
ETL
also requires that its production site has been inspected and the
applicant agrees to periodically follow up on the factory to ensure that
the product consistently meets this requirement.
Scope of application
The
company has been tested to meet the relevant product safety standards,
which means that the production plant agrees to receive strict periodic
inspections to ensure product quality consistency and can be sold to the
US and Canada markets.

related information
ETL certification is the certification required for products exported to the US and Canada. The ETL mark indicates that the product has passed the accreditation test of the US NRTL and or the Canadian SCC. The ETL logo is equivalent to the UL or CSA mark and complies with the relevant safety standards. The fact that a product has an ETL listing mark means that it has met the minimum requirements for product safety standards. In
addition, the ETL mark indicates that the manufacturer's production
site meets a range of standard requirements and is subject to regular
factory follow-up inspections to ensure continued consistency. ETL has been around for more than 100 years. The three letters of ETL are short for the Electrical Testing Labs founded by the inventor Edison in 1896. ETL stands for innovative, influential, independent and open product testing and extensive experience.

The difference between UL and ETL
1.
Both UL and ETL represent products that pass the Nationally Recognized
Testing Laboratory (NRTL) and meet the appropriate safety standards. So the real difference lies in the service. As
an ETL customer, you can enjoy tailor-made testing, inspection and
certification services, fast cycle times and flexible working methods. We
are creating a more collaborative approach to working with our
customers so that your products can enter the market faster, smoother
and more efficiently.
2,
ETL certification and UL certification have the same North American
market access effectiveness, but the cost of ETL certification is much
lower than UL certification, generally only half of the UL
certification, and ETL certified product testing can be transferred
through the CB test report, Save you a lot of testing costs.
3,
ETL certification time is also much shorter than UL certification.
Under special circumstances, ETL can issue certificates first, then
conduct factory inspections to save valuable time for the export of your
products.
