FCC Certification
The FCC is the Federal Communications Commission, responsible directly to Congress for coordinating domestic and international Communications through the control of radio, television, telecommunications, satellite, and cable. It authorizes and regulates radio frequency transmission devices and equipment other than those used by the Federal government.
Since November 2, 2018, FCC SDoC is mandatory, so THERE are two categories of FCC certification in the United States. The first category is for wireless products to do FCC ID certification, the second category is for ordinary products without wireless functions to do FCC SDoC certification.
1. The FCC ID certification
FCC ID certification is one of the mandatory FCC certification modes in the United States, which is applicable to wireless products with great technical difficulties. Products with wireless transmission frequencies such as Bluetooth devices, WiFi devices, wireless alarm devices, radio receiving and transmission devices, telephones, computers, etc., are required to apply for FCC ID certification. Wireless product certification is directly approved by the FCC TCB agency. You can query the certification certificate at the FCC official website (www.fcc.gov).
FCC ID certification process: When applying for FCC-ID certification for the first time, a merchant must register FCC-FRN with the FCC and set up the application company file before filing fCC-ID. FCC ID reports are reviewed by the FCC-TCB agency. The certification auditor submits the report to the FCC Management Center. After the approval, the report will be released to the FCC official website. End customers can query the product certification information on the FCC official website by the ID number.
In the case of smooth FCC ID certification, the cycle is about 3-4 weeks. The number of samples varies according to different products and different test items. The price varies from several thousand yuan for ordinary Bluetooth products to several hundred thousand yuan for 5G communication terminal equipment. In case of actual cases can be detailed communication.
2. The FCC SDoC certification
On November 2, 2017, the FEDERAL Communications Commission (FCC) merged DoC and VoC into SDoC (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity). SDoC certification replaces the FCC Verification and DoC certification program and is available for all equipment that is subject to the FCC Verification and DoC certification program. In the SDoC certification, the responsible party has been updated, requiring the responsible party to provide declaration documents before shipping and selling, so that the United States can find the responsible party in the first time in case of market spot check.
A. The responsible party shall meet the following requirements:
A. The responsible party must be a local company in the United States;
B. The responsible party may be the manufacturer, the assembler, the importer;
C. The responsible party shall require that products, test reports, and corresponding records be provided during FCC market sampling to ensure that products comply with FCC SDoC procedures;
D. The responsible party shall add the compliance declaration documents to the attached documents of the equipment, and advise the customer to directly choose the first importer or find some local agent companies in the United States as the responsible party.
B. Information to be reflected in the declaration document:
A. Responsible Party information in the United States: Company name, address, contact number or Internet contact information
B. The declaration document shall be shipped and sold together with the product.
C. Separate pages, together with the manual, along with the attached products for shipment. (Note: each product needs to be issued, not according to the shipment batch) or directly let the information contained in the declaration document be placed in the specification for shipment.
For the subsequent FCC SDoC, the laboratory will only issue the test report, and the FCC SDoC(FCC Compliance Statement) will be issued by the customer's local representative in the United States.
In the case of smooth FCC SDoC certification, the period is about 2-3 weeks. The number of samples varies according to different products and different test items, and the price varies according to different standards for different products. In case of actual cases can be detailed communication.
