INMETRO certification
INMETRO is the Brazilian Accreditation Body responsible for the development of Brazilian national standards. Most of Brazil's product standards are based on IEC and ISO standards, and manufacturers who need to export their products to Brazil should refer to these two sets of standards when designing products. Products that meet Brazilian standards and other technical requirements must be accompanied by a mandatory INMETRO logo and an accredited third-party certification body to enter the Brazilian market.
application
The application of the INMETRO logo can be divided into two categories, mandatory and voluntary, which are issued by a certification body (CB). In addition, the Brazilian government also stipulates that some products need to be marked with energy efficiency (smiley face), such certificates are issued directly by INMETRO, and the certification body is not involved.
Mandatory category
· Steel Pipe
· Cast iron pipe fittings
· Wire rope
· Automobile and motorcycle tires, wheels, batteries, shock absorbers, fuel pumps, horns, engine pistons, piston rings, piston pins, circlips, safety glass lights, auto parts
· Active medical devices
· Circuit interrupter
· Live equipment used in explosive atmospheres (explosion-proof certification)
· Gas system related equipment (pressure reducing valve and rubber hose)
· Switches, plugs and sockets
· Electronic ballast (ballast)
· Wires and cables
· Voltage regulator
· Home appliance
· IT equipment [1]
Voluntary category
· Industrial valves
· Building materials, etc. [2]
· Three-phase motor
· Photovoltaic modules, etc. [3]
Certification process
Among the INMETRO certifications, the most widely used certification model is the internationally accepted certification model5, which includes testing of the product itself and review of the factory quality management system. At the same time, the model also requires initial review and supervision review. The specific process is as follows:
Initial review:
Product technical file analysis
Define the product family and determine the test product model
Initial factory audit
sampling)
Laboratory evaluation (if applicable)
Witness test (if applicable)
Importer review
Certification process review
Issue a certificate
Follow-up supervision review:
According to the Brazilian Decree, different products have different monitoring and review cycles, generally 6/9/12 months. The process is as follows:
Importer review
Sampling
Factory audit
Laboratory evaluation (if applicable)
Witness test (if applicable)
Importer review
Certification process review
Update certificate
Apply for certification
Domestic factories and traders can apply to the certification body authorized by the Brazilian government.
Certification mark
The mandatory certification of INMETRO must be marked in accordance with INMETRO regulations. Some products require the product itself and the logo on the product packaging.
Validity period
According to the INMETRO Act, different products have different certification validity periods. Usually 3 years (such as steel pipe) or 4 years (such as auto parts).
Precautions
1. In Brazil, the plug must comply with the standard NBR 14136, NBR NM 60884-1. Since January 1, 2009, the NEMA plug has been officially eliminated;
2, if it is the CB report of the circuit breaker products issued by other laboratories, part of the test must be added (the plan is designated by Brazil);
3. For small circuit breakers, the I2t curve for each current must be submitted before certification;
4, the LCIE test report and CIG023 report on the electronic, can be directly transferred to the INMETRO certificate;
